New office suite supports embedded Linux based devices -- A Beijing, China company announced availability of CCOffice, a small footprint embedded Linux based office suite compatible with Microsoft Office file formats. Caldera releases "AIM" benchmarks under GPL -- Caldera has announced that they are making Suites VII and IX of the AIM benchmarks available under the GPL open source license. The AIM benchmark technology has proved useful for more than a decade in measuring performance of hardware and versions of the Unix operating system. Story
SnapGear announces Embedded Linux based reference platform -- SnapGear Inc. has developed a new Linux-based reference platform that brings together USB, PCMCIA, WAN, LAN, and serial connectivity in a single powerful appliance design. The design is based on a highly integrated and compact (9.1 x 5.5 in.) single-board computer which contains an AMD SC520 processor running at 133MHz. Story
