Event trace tool doesn't require instrumented libraries -- according to LynuxWorks, SpyKer is the only commercial trace tool that traces kernel events without the need for instrumented kernel and library events and without a special instrumented version of the library. story
Qt/Embedded, bolstered by GPL, takes aim at Palm OS -- Trolltech announced that Qt/Embedded is being released under the open source GPL license. Qt/Embedded is a small foot-print embedded version of Qt/Unix which forms the GUI basis of the popular KDE windowing environment for Linux. story
Force announces Linux text-to-speech support -- Force Computers announced support for Linux on its DECtalk Text-To-Speech (TTS) speech synthesis technology for StrongARM and Intel (X86) based wireless devices. story
Alliance targets Linux at Military & Avionics apps -- Metro Link and OnCore Systems have formed a strategic alliance aimed to provide a real-time Linux based graphical solution to customers in mission-critical avionics applications requiring robust platforms and FAA RTCA/EUROCAE DO-178B certification. story
TimeSys taps India for real-time Linux R&D -- the company announced formation of TimeSys India Private Limited in the southern city of Coimbatore.
The facility will conduct research and development for next generation real-time Linux tools. story
Firms partner to produce small footprint Linux+GUI -- Coventive Technologies and Metro Link have formed a strategic partnership that will combine Coventive's embedded Linux OS kernel with Metro Link's embedded graphic display technology to create a complete solution for information appliance manufacturers. story
LynuxWorks files IPO S-1 statement with SEC -- the company has filed paperwork in preparation for a proposed initial public offering of its common stock. All of the shares will be sold by LynuxWorks. story #1 story #2
High-speed synchronous driver source released to GPL -- the Software Group Limited has released Linux drivers and administration utilities for its SGP hardware adapter under GPL license. The drivers interface with existing GPL synchronous wide area communications packages, connecting Linux with serial synchronous communications links running at speeds up to 4 Megabits/second. story
