MontaVista Unveils Fully Preemptable Linux Kernel Prototype -- MontaVista Software has taken the wraps off what it calls a "hard real-time fully preemptable Linux kernel prototype," based on Linux kernel 2.4. The company claims its kernel modification has the power to revolutionize the application responsiveness of Linux, while fully preserving the Linux programming model. story Lineo Responds to MontaVista "Hard Real-Time Linux" Claims -- Lineo has issued a formal statement in response to MontaVista Software's recent press release entitled "MontaVista First to Deliver Hard Real-Time Linux." The Lineo response challenges several assumptions of the MontaVista announcement. story Yodaiken Comments on MontaVista "Hard Real-Time" Linux Kernel -- Victor Yodaiken, creator of RTLinux, has provided a brief statement about MontaVista Software's preemptable kernel announcement.
