Singapore and San Jose, CA -- (press release excerpt) -- InnoMedia will unveil the Linux-based MTA 3368 IP VideoPhone at CableNET '02 in Anaheim, CA. The device, which is equipped with a 4-inch color TFT LCD and has the look and feel and ease of use of an ordinary telephone, is capable of delivering real-time high quality video images at up to 768 Kbps bandwidth.

The use of an embedded Linux platform allowed InnoMedia to take advantage of various readily available multimedia applications. Consequently, the device will be able to support not only video telephony services, but also other new applications such as video streaming, gaming, and even instant messaging.

Support is included for all key IP-based communications protocols including SIP, MGCP, and H.323, as well as quality-of-service (QoS) mechanisms such as VLAN and ToS settings. Additionally, support for standards-based provisioning processes (HTTP, SNMP, TFTP, FTP, and Telnet) is expected to simplify the deploying and managing of large numbers of devices via remote automatic firmware upgrade, parameters configuration, and IP address management.
