An IEEE 802.11 specialist in Kaunas, Lithuania is offering an embedded Linux WiFi stack supporting common AP (access point) and router hardware platforms. Wilibox's WiLi stack supports a variety of up-to-date standards, recommendations, and security features, and targets WISPs (wireless Internet service providers), telecom operators, and device manufacturers, the company says.
Wilibox says its stack can be used to build access points, access controllers, enterprise access points, fixed 802.11 a/b/g wireless network elements, base stations, customer premise equipment (CPE), and high performance secure point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless bridges.

According to Wilibox, WiLi is the first available 802.11 stack to support multiple virtual APs (multiple BSSIDs) and multiple client mode STA (station) connections concurrently. Additional claimed features include:- Standard functionality covering latest Wi-Fi Alliance and IEEE 802.11 features

- WPA2 with pre-shared and dynamic key handling
- Comprehensive networking functionality
- IPSec with hardware acceleration

- Secure WDS with WPA2 pre-shared and dynamic key modes

- Routing, bridging, and access control settings
- Virtual APs can be open or secured with WEP or WPA/WPA2
- Web login and UAM (unit asset condition management) for hotspot and guest access

- Custom configuration management subsystem
- Text based configuration file
- RCMS (Remote Configuration Management System) agent
- Communicates with remote RCMS server via HTTPS
Availability
Wilibox says WiLi is available now, with support for router/AP platforms that include: Intel XScale IXP42x (ADI Coyote, Pronghorn, Linksys WRV54G, various Gemtek Systems); Kendin KS8695 (Peplink Manga); various Atheros-powered platforms; and Intel IA-32 (demo platform, and PC Engines WRAP). Additionally, Broadcom's BCM47xx will be supported in Q4, the company says.
Wilibox also supports various WiFi chipsets, including the Atheros AR21xx and AR51xx; Conexant PRISM GT and PRISM WorldRadio. Support for Broadcom 11g and Ralink chipsets will be added in Q4, the company says.
