Lineo Names CFO and VP Business Development
Jan. 11, 2000

LINDON, Utah -- (company press release) -- Lineo, Inc., a leading provider of embedded Linux software, today announced the naming of Greg Hill as Chief Financial Officer and Matt Harris as Vice President of Business Development / General Counsel. Hill and Harris will provide the necessary financial and legal oversight demanded by the rapid expansion Lineo is experiencing in embedded Linux interest and market growth.

"In July, we launched Lineo to provide OEMs with embedded Linux solutions. The OEM market has responded very favorably to this focus and direction," said Bryan Sparks, CEO of Lineo, Inc.

Lineo, which leads the development of embedded Linux system software, is aggressively partnering with the industry's leading semi-conductor and device manufacturers, and embedded software vendors to fuel the acceptance and deployment of Linux in a broad spectrum of embedded devices and appliances. Lineo bases Embedix, Lineo's embedded Linux product line, on sister company Caldera Systems' OpenLinux product.

Hill is responsible for Lineo's financial, accounting, tax, budgeting and administrative functions. Prior to joining Lineo, Hill was Chief Financial Officer of Sensorium Software, a startup company in the business intelligence space. Additionally, Hill held executive positions at several large public companies, including Phillips Petroleum and Tyco Toys, where he was responsible for corporate finance, international financial management and mergers and acquisitions. Hill received a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Harris was a founding partner of the Summit Law Group, a nationally recognized law firm with a strong technology law practice. Before founding Summit, Harris practiced with Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe. He has extensive securities, antitrust and licensing experience. Harris has served as counsel to, among others, Aldus Corporation, Caldera, Inc., Sun Microsystems, and Ernst & Young. Harris is the author of articles analyzing the work for hire doctrine in the context of software development and disclosure issues facing technology companies in light of the Securities Litigation Reform Act. Before attending law school, Harris was a software engineer for five years. Harris is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and the University of Washington.
