| MontaVista Vision gains focus |

 MontaVista Software announced additional details about its Vision 2008 Embedded Linux Developers Conference. Scheduled for Oct. 1-3 in San Francisco, Vision 2008 will offer more than 40 sessions, with presentations from embedded Linux experts including MontaVista CTO James Ready and Freescale Semiconductor CTO Lisa Su (pictured).
Sponsored by Platinum sponsor Freescale, Vision 2008 is devoted to sharing real-world tips, techniques, and tools for users of MontaVista's Linux distributions and development tools. Vision 2007 attracted some 400 attendees and featured an interesting keynote from kernel maintainer Andrew Morton.
Technical sessions will be presented by experts from companies including Access, Cisco Systems, Emerson Network Power, Freescale, IBM, Intel, MontaVista, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Wipro, and Xilinx, says the company. The show will start off with a full-day hands-on bootcamp on developing embedded Linux device drivers, and there will also be a hands-on lab on developing applications for multi-core processors conducted by PTR Group chief scientist Mike Anderson. For entertainment (aside from the device drivers, of course), MontaVista is offering a strolling dinner and games night and a "YouTube Rock Band" competition.
