GoAhead unveils High Availability (HA) Linux solution

Bellevue, WA --(BUSINESS WIRE) -- GoAhead Software, a leading provider of off-the-shelf service availability software for Internet infrastructure devices and servers, and Intel Corporation are collaborating to provide a highly available communications infrastructure platform running on Linux. The high availability solution will be demonstrated in the Intel booth at Networld + Interop, May 9-11, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The telecom and datacom industries are demanding a comprehensive high availability solution to accelerate the widespread deployment of reliable infrastructure applications. While many companies employ systems with features like hot swap that increase system uptime, the industry requires a complete off-the-shelf management solution that can enable 99.999% ("5NINES") system availability. This demonstration is a big step toward that solution. The GoAhead Linux solution integrates GoAhead HighAvailability software with CompactPCI platforms based on Intel Pentium III processors to create a reliable, highly available system-level solution for communications infrastructure.

The Networld + Interop demonstration will show a highly reliable system in action. Booth visitors will witness an application that does not experience downtime, even when cards are removed or the application fails. The demo incorporates high availability platforms from Motorola Computer Group, Ziatech Corporation and Intel, all running GoAhead HighAvailability and Linux on Intel Architecture. GoAhead's high availability software manages mission-critical applications through a systems-based approach, which actively monitors all components -- hardware, applications and operating systems. Key features include checkpointing, policy-based switchover, fault resolution, and remote upgrading of software and firmware to maintain high levels of availability.
