Salt Lake City, UT -- (press release excerpt) -- version 2.4.1-1 of Embedix SDK represents Lineo's first major step toward transforming the Embedix Tool Suite into a full, open Linux development environment. We've provided the tools and documentation to import kernels, applications, updated compilers and debuggers, drivers, and other packages from any open source supplier.

Major enhancements in this new release include . . .

Improved kernel configuration file import capability -- this allows full kernel replacement. This is our first step in making the Embedix SDK is a ubiquitous Linux tool; it's not just tied to Embedix Linux anymore.
Modified build engine -- developers can now import new GNU toolchains from virtually anywhere.
Greatly improved documentation:
- Now a total of 160 MB of documentation
- The new Embedix Tools Addendum document -- focused on the new tools, and how to create your own BSP using Embedded Linux.
- A complete collection of documentation on the use of GNU tools and libraries, Advanced Linux Programming, and Linux Device Driver programming.
- New documentation -- Nearly 50 new pages, focusing on use of new tools and the creation of a new BSP based on an existing BSP, downloaded components, plus many more Embedix tools
Further improved stationery for Metrowerks CodeWarrior
Remote administration support:
- Inclusion of VNC client/server software for remote support and assistance.
- Functionality similar to PCanywhere, Laplink, other remote control packages for the PC
New custom splash screen capability -- if you create and then ship your own BSPs, this will allow you to include your company logos and images as the target wizard start-up splash screen.
Full integrations of all updates:
- Debian Binary Import Tool (DBIT)
- C++ fixes
- Various bug fixes
