Falko Timme has published an article on HowToForge about installing and using the Bazaar version control system (VCS) on Debian Etch. The article shows how to set up and install the VCS and install SFTP and Lighttpd on the server.

A distributed version control system (VCS) available under the GPL, Bazaar is similar to Subversion (svn), writes Timme. Sponsored by Canonical, Ltd., which develops Ubuntu Linux, Bazaar has so far been mostly an Ubuntu phenomenon. It offers a wide variety of version-control workflows to choose from, including solo, partner, centralized (with and without local commits), and decentralized approaches with shared mainline, human gatekeeper, and automatic gatekeeper options (see below).

Timme's article is based on examples taken from a Bazaar user guide, but he adds a section on configuring an SFTP-/HTTP server on Debian Etch (Debian 4.0). He installs SFTP and lighttpd on the server and installs Bazaar on the workstation to "make the Bazaar experience a little bit smoother for not-so-experienced Linux users," he writes.
