The CANdimm module is a highly integrated dimmPCI single board computer that utilizes an advanced microprocessor and a CAN 2.0B interface. The CANdimm operates as a stand-alone or peripheral dimmPCI module and supports both PCI master and slave modes.

The CANdimm may be used for many applications including protocol translation to convert any CAN based network information to RS-232 or RS-485. Used in conjunction with a NETdimm module, the CANdimm can translate CAN protocol to Ethernet. When used with the IOdimm? the combination provides a highly integrated and sophisticated node in any Controller Area Network.

The module runs the µClinux operating system. AMC has also developed a Linux implementation of the industry standard DeviceNet protocol stack. Designers can take advantage of this integration to create many applications, including DeviceNet Group 2 and 3 compliant devices and DeviceNet scanners. The CANdimm? module may also be used for other CAN based protocols such as CAN Kingdom and CAN Open.
