Tynux Embedded Linux for Internet Appliances

Tynux Package is PalmPalm Technology's Embedded Linux solution optimized for Internet Appliances. PalmPalm Technology supplies packaged Linux and application software in bundles at competitive prices to Internet Appliance vendors/OEMs or developers.

PalmPalm Technology also supplies an Embedded Linux development tool kit, Tynux Box, to extend the distribution of Linux-loaded Internet appliances and to expand the participation of Application software developers. Tynux Box is composed of a CD (with Linux source and other software development tools) and a reference board with processor, ample memory, LCD, etc. attached. Software developed from Tynux Box can automatically run on Tynux-loaded cellular phones, PDA, set-top-boxes etc. Tynux Box is useful not only for software developers but also for hardware developers of Internet appliances.

The following will be integrated into the application software within PalmPalm Technology's Tynux Package. PalmPalm Technology's partners provide these application software programs and PalmPalm Technology is responsible for examining their operation in their integration with Tynux GUI (Graphic User Interface):

  • Address Book
  • Calendar
  • Scheduler
  • Pen-input Character Recognition

The functionality and performance test of the Tynux Package Beta Version is at its concluding stages and beta test on commercialized appliances will be completed by the year end of 2000.

PalmPalm Technology is currently also preparing Multimedia Services including: MP3s, Video Players, Internet TVs, Internet phones, Video Conferences, Video phones, etc.; plus, Content-integrated Services including: E-commerce, Transport Directories, Securities Inquiry/On-line Trading, On-line Games, etc.
